Tori’s Story
Hey! My name is Tori Carver, founder of Know the Author. In the picture is my husband Cole, and we live in East Tennessee with our two-year-old daughter, Presley, and our German Shepherd/Great Pyrenees, Gracie. We love all things East Tennessee! Whether attending our home church, Rio Revolution, spending a day at Dollywood, or cheering on the Vols at Neyland Stadium, we are so blessed to live in this area and are in awe of our Tennessee mountain home.
I started Know the Author because I struggled with my identity for a long time. After changing my major six times (yes, you read that right), I finally ended my college career with a degree in General Studies, still completely unsure of where my life was headed. As newlyweds, then new homeowners, then new parents, my husband and I quickly found ourselves falling into the trap of complacency. But I just knew God wanted something more for me. I wrestled with God for a few years on what this would look like, only to discover I was on the losing end of that battle because I knew I couldn’t overrule God’s plan for my life. Instead, I decided to take a step back and relinquish control. I felt God asking me to slow down and take the advice of Matthew 6:33, “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
I stopped working on any kind of ministry and just cracked open my Bible and studied. In doing this, I learned so much more about God, the desires of His heart, and the kind of God He truly is. This process has absolutely changed my life. Not only did my faith deepen, but it overflowed into my family. I’ve witnessed family members be born again, baptized, and set free from the bondage of sin, something I never thought possible in my family. This testimony of faith that God has given me has been my encouragement and confirmation to share what God has taught me with the world. As a child, my family coined the phrase “Tori Story” for my ability to ramble on about anything my mind could procure(a craft that I am still perfecting as an adult). Years later, as a teenager, a preacher prophesied over me that one day, I would teach the Gospel. Through Know the Author, God has fulfilled this prophecy, and I am so blessed an honored to spend my life advancing the Kingdom and pointing people to the Glory of God.
